Matthew 5:17-19
12. The gifts of God

We live in a culture that treats the Bible as optional at best and oppressive at worst. But in this week's passage, Jesus makes a stunning claim: not a single dot of Scripture will fade before He returns and makes all things new. Far from abolishing the Law and the Prophets, He came to fulfill them — to obey them perfectly, to draw out their deepest meaning, and to be the one every page was always pointing toward.

In this sermon, Pastor David unpacks why the word of God, Jesus the Word made flesh, and the people who faithfully teach both are not burdens to endure but gifts to receive with gratitude. Whether you're someone who grew up with the Bible always nearby and has started taking it for granted, or someone still figuring out what to do with the Old Testament — this message is for you.

We also pause to honour what faithful teaching actually looks like: the grandmother who prayed, the mother who read the stories, the friend who sat beside you and explained what you were reading. Greatness in God's kingdom, it turns out, looks a lot like that.
